Birth Of A Savior

Birth Of A Savior

As we approach the most anticipated day of the year, let us reflect on the true meaning of the season! While this is a time for coming together and making new memories with family and friends, let us not be distracted by the many antics the enemy uses to take our focus away on why we celebrate! May we not be overly concerned of all the gifts we hope to receive or give honor to a false god that mimics the one true God by keeping tabs on us all year and rewards us with gifts based on our performance throughout the year! Let’s take a look into the true meaning of the season!

For believers in Christ, the Christmas holiday is all about celebrating the birth of our savior. We celebrate the birth of the one who came to redeem the world and reconcile us back to the father! It is a time to celebrate the greatest gift to the world! Christ birth marks the fulfillment of all Old Testament prophecy that promised a way back to the father after sin entered the earth through Adam and Eve in the book of Genesis. The first promise of our awaited savior is mentioned in Genesis 3:15 when God tells the serpent “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” Christ birth was yet another reminder to our adversary that God is in control and he will have what he says. No wonder Satan tries to create such distraction around the fulfillment of the greatest promise. He wants to get us focused on what we can receive and feel we deserve which is contrary to scripture that says in Acts 20:35 “remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’.’” He also pushes the narrative of Santa to teach to our youth in hopes that parents will forget to instill the true meaning of the holiday in them.

I want to encourage and challenge you this Christmas to share with at least one person the true meaning of Christmas and why we as believers celebrate. Let’s also remember to pray for those who find the holiday season lonely and difficult. May we be found spreading love, kindness, joy, and peace not just now but always!

Scripture speaking of our Saviors birth

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” Micah 5:2
